Bullying, Youth and the Anti-Gay Agenda

JoeBrummer| Category: Americans for "Truth", Ex-Gay Issues, Exodus International, Hate Crime Laws, Janet Folger, Lies, Peter LaBarbera, Sonja Dalton, Uncategorized | 0 Comments

Reposted from “Replace the Lies with Truth“, my daily blog.

While bullying and violence continue to be a problem in this country for all youth, anti-gay forces have done zilch to solve this problem.  365gay.com is reporting today that two states, Florida and Iowa have anti-bullying laws on the table that are moving forward with protections for students perceived to be gay or lesbian.   It doesn’t really matter if the students are or are not gay, it is about how people perceive them.  Just so the anti-gay forces don’t try to claim this is a special rights thing, it covers all students, even if those students claim the ex-gay identity.

A father whose son was badly beaten in school by other students told the school board:

“For 22 minutes of my life I had to sit there and watch that clock tick by, and I had to contemplate I was going to have to go home and tell my wife we didn’t have a son no more”

It is proven by the science, over and over again that kids are bullied based on sexual orientation.   Many of these kids are not even gay, but seen as gay by their peers.   Anti-bullying laws would send a message that this violent behavior towards fellow students is wrong, yet anti-gay groups are against any form of anti-violence, anti-hate crime, or other that would reduce, stop or prevent violence against GLBT students, and even adults.

A busy day for the American Family Association

Kevin| Category: Uncategorized | 3 Comments

I just received an American Family Association alert–those nasty homosexuals are at it again!  But this time it is serious–apparently Ford has helped to sponsor a show called Dirt on the FX Channel.  According to the AFA alert:

Rather than backing down from its support of homosexuality, Ford Motor Company has apparently taken a “rub it in your face” attitude.
On the January 16 episode of “Dirt,” which airs on the FX channel, Ford helped sponsor one of the most explicit, sickening homosexual scenes ever shown on television.
Because it is so explicit, I could not even include a description of it here. I hope you will simply trust me. However, if you want to read our review of the scene, or to see the video of the scene, click here. Be forewarned, it is extremely graphic.
Ford has made it extremely clear that they have no intentions of ending their support of homosexuality. Among other things, the company reneged on their agreement to remain neutral in the culture wars, increased their support of homosexual publications, sponsored TV programs pushing homosexuality and required employees to attend “diversity” training promoting homosexuality. For more information on Ford’s track record, go to BoycottFord.com.

It sounds like someone at AFA, namely its president, Donald E. Wildman was getting a bit too excited about this video clip.  It is so ‘disturbing’ that you have to click another link at the AFA to get the following message (and notice too the AFA is a bit behind in things–this aired Jan. 16):

The following is a description of a scene taken from the January 16, 2007, episode of “Dirt” on the FX network.

WARNING: The following description is graphic and offensive.

Two men on a backyard patio are discussing their acting careers when one of them asks the other if he may ask a personal question.

The other man says, “Relax.  I’ve been thinking the same thing.”  He then places his hands on the first man’s face and pulls him in for a very long, passionate kiss.

He then says, “Every since I met you, I’ve been thinking the same thing.”  He then moves one hand down the first man’s shirt and rubs his crotch.  Immediately he falls to his knees and begins undoing the man’s belt, pants and zipper.

After gazing at the man’s penis, he moves his head forward toward it.

The scenes cuts to a distance view, where the second man is seen giving the first man oral sex.

To view the actual scene, Click Here.

I looked at it and only 308 people had viewed it so far–my guess is that Wildman and his staff probably make up for a large percentage of people who have watched it.  It is also interesting that to watch this clip, you have to sign up to be able to watch adult content–so it appears that Donald Wildman has signed up for his own account.

I have to wonder why is it that Wildman did not mention that the show apparently has a scene of the main character (a woman) masturbating…My guess is that his followers probably enjoyed that little bit and didn’t want to complain to big daddy Don.

And I don’t know why he is complaining about Ford.  I went to the Dirt website but the only ad I saw there was from Pontiac.

It is also absolutely hilarious that at the bottom the alert is a link to the “American Family Filter” which is described as a ’strong, internet filtering software and porn blocking technology.’  Apparently Mr. Wildman has yet to install this on his own computer, since he had no problem viewing ‘the most explicit, sickening homosexual scenes ever shown on television.’  :) :)

Truth is Stranger than Fiction or is Fiction Stranger than Truth?

JoeBrummer| Category: Ex-Gay Issues, Uncategorized | 2 Comments

I can’t say I think this is real, but I am going to email this guy and find out.

Pam at the Blend and Box Turtle Bulletin are reporting on this “maybe” real or maybe satire group. I am not sure what my thoughts are other than curious. Remember the phrase from my friend Janice…..GET CURIOUS, NOT FURIOUS!

This guys website is just too campy to be real, but I am working on the truth….will update you all later……watch the video, it is disturbing if is for real and insensitive to ex-gays if it is not.

Quoth the LaBarbera

Punted| Category: Uncategorized | 5 Comments

Today Peter LaBarbera quotes the Bible in response to The Transgendered Religious Summit with a tract from the bible.

Whatever man may say, these are the words of God for the gender-confused:

A woman shall not wear a man’s garment,
nor shall a man put on a woman’s cloak,
for whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD your God.

Deuteronomy 22:5

Genuine transformation is possible in Jesus Christ. Come and see!

How does one respond to Absolute Truth.  Well, with Absolute Truth of course!

Yes, Pete has the gall to judge someone or an entire group of people with his bible but cannot see past the plank in his own eye.  So the question begs to be asked…“What Bible quotes work against Peter LaBarbera?”

Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.
-Leviticus 19:26-28

1 “Do not spread false reports. Do not help a wicked man by being a malicious witness.  2 “Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd
-Exodus 23:1-2

6And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you. 7And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you. 8Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you. 9These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat. 10And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you: 11They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination. 12Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.
- Leviticus 11:6-12

These are just some of the things which I’m sure Mr. LaBarbera has sinned against.  But he gets to pick and choose the parts which he feels are OK to sin against.  Far be it from me to judge.

Americans For Lies About Homosexuality?

Kevin| Category: Uncategorized | 0 Comments

I want to know why the group known as Americans for Truth About Homosexuality only calls itself Americans for Truth?  Look at their front page.  The president of the group, Peter LaBarbera, in his welcome message, calls it Americans for Truth.  Their banner, which shows the Statue of Liberty, proclaims “Americans For Truth.”  For donations, he will take Visa or Mastercard, for Americans for Truth.  A search for the word ‘Homosexuality’ only comes up with the word in the various articles and in their subject listing–but not the legal name of their non-profit.  You can also see on their front page “Want to See Every New AFTAH Article?” but them immediately below, it states “If you don’t want to miss anything posted on the Americans For Truth website,” and “This service DOES NOT replace the regular or digest AFTAH emails.“  Notice that Americans for Truth About Homosexuality cannot even give their full name.  Anywhere.  Even under their section for ‘Donate to AFTAH.’

What about in other areas of its website?  In LaBarbera’s Welcome, it does have ‘Read about AFTAH’ so I clicked there, and once again, it is only called AFT.  LaBarbera himself only calls it AFT.  Their full name isn’t listed.  In an article written by one of their volunteers, Sonja Dalton, it is called “Americans For Truth (AFTAH),” without explanation what AH actually means.  Why the refusal to use the entire title of their non-profit organization?

And when you click on their ‘Donate to AFTAH’, it states “Americans For Truth accepts credit card donations of any amount via PayPal™. AFT is a 501(c)3 organization, so your donation is tax-exempt.”  So even here they cannot get themselves to provide the full name of their organization.   And when you click on Make a Donation, you can guess–it is made out to Americans For Truth.  The problem is, when you go to list that you have made a tax-exempt donation on your tax forms, the organization of Americans for Truth does not exist in the IRS database under their 501(c)3 non-profit organizations.  It is only listed under Americans for Truth about Homosexuality–their full and legal name.

And get this:  if you do a search of their website for “Americans For Truth About Homosexuality”, you will not find it!  Here is the results of the search (the bolding is mine):

Search

AND Search
OR Search

Phrase Search
Show 10 20 50 100 results per page

Did you mean: “Americans for Truth about Homosexuality”?

Following words were ignored (too short or common): for about

The search “Americans for Truth about Homosexuality” did not match any documents

Why is it that this group cannot call itself, anywhere in its website, not even by its founder, by its legal name?  How is one to know what the ‘AH’ means?  A search in GuideStar.org, which is used to find non-profits, has no listing for Americans For Truth.  It does, however, have a listing for Americans for Truth About Homosexuality.

Why is this? Maybe they think that they can get more donations if they leave out the ‘About Homosexuality’ bit.  Maybe they think that they sound less ridiculous if they leave out the ‘About Homosexuality.’  Who knows.  Americans for Truth?  Unlikely.

Exodus International Celebrated Religious Freedom Day by Spreading Fear about Hate Crime Laws

JoeBrummer| Category: Ex-Gay Issues, Exodus International, Hate Crime Laws, Uncategorized | 2 Comments

(This was cross posted at Replace the Lies With Truth)

Again in the news, today, Exodus International sent out a press release to invoke more fear in Christians about gay and lesbians folks. The email urges people to fight Hate Crime Legislation.

The email starts right off by saying:

“Today, as the nation celebrates Religious Freedom Day, Exodus International, the world’s largest ministry to those desiring freedom from unwanted homosexuality, joins pro-family groups around the nation in urging Congress to stop a hate crimes bill that would penalize those with faith-based beliefs about homosexuality.”

There is no language in the proposed legislation that limits free speech or religious freedom, so right off the top, Exodus is lying to you to invoke fear against GLBT folks. This is shameful on the part of Exodus. No law can be passed that will limit religious expression or free speech as long as we have the Constitution.

We have had hate crime enhancements federally for years covering race, gender, age, religion, disability and nationality. It has not stopped anti-semitic websites or KKK rallies from thriving. It has not stopped white supremacist groups from marching, spewing hate speech, protesting, testifying on legislation or holding anti-black, anti-semitic demonstrations. Exactly how will adding gays limit religious freedom if adding religion or race did nothing to stop this stuff? Hate Crime Laws didn’t stop these cute little blonde haired, blue eyed twins from singing “White Power” music, so how will hate crime laws stop anyone from preaching against gays? It won’t because Exodus is lying to invoke their own brand of hate dressed in cute clothes and holy looks. They are outwardly trying to invoke fear in others about gays. GUESS WHAT, that is protected by the constitution too! It is not protected by the court of public opinion.

The press release continues (emphasis mine):

Peter La Barbera on Faith2Action’s radio show with Janet Folger

Faith 2 Action, a group led by Janet Folger recently had Peter La Barbera on her radio show entitled, Faith2action. This group is making a blantent call to Christians to go against their faith’s message of nonviolence and calls them to fight in the cultural war rather than do the right thing.

To start with the host of the show Janet Folger is planning to launch a new website against hate crime laws called http://www.stophatecrimesnow.com/. The site will be dedicated to stopping hate crime laws from protecting gays and lesbians. No words on whether the site will stop hate crime protections for christians. I will be watching to see the day the site goes up and keep you posted.

In the second half of the show, Janet had long time activist, Peter La Barbera from Americans for Truth on the show. Here is my sum up of the show:

Celebrate the Legacy of Dr. King with Nonviolence

JoeBrummer| Category: Uncategorized | Comments Off

I stubled onto this blog today though Kevin Kaatz’s site. It appears the blog was created today, and only has some brief posts that call gay right’s bloggers names and tries to discredit us. It reminds me a little of the “pray for joe brummer blog” that we know was started by Stacy Harp due to the use of that horrid picture of me my wonderful partner took.

Anway, I thought it would be fun and positive to answer this blog with some love. I would ask all of you to leave a positive, loving comment on the blog. It would appear the person who started this blog carries around some serious anger to start such a mean website. I think it would be a sign of taking the highroad to show this person love and compassion. Two things I rarely see in the cultural war are love and compassion. Let’s turn this blog into a statement that gays are not the angry people that make us out to be. The easy way to make this person see the light, is to be the light.

The anti-gay forces out there think and teach that we pro-gay people are angry, liars, mean, unchristian and loads of other stuff. What better way to counter such lies than to prove them wrong.

Add some love to the angry blogger. Pick any of his posts and send him some love. He appears to need some love seeing as though he or she is so angry. The only true way to end hate is to counter it with love.

Do it to help keep the spirit of MLK Alive!

I have turned off comments on this post because I want you to leave the comments there….and with love.

Americans for Truth About Homosexuality a Gay Rights Organization???

**Update Below**

***I have to admit that I made a mistake by republishing some material from the GuideStar website.  Below was an email I sent to Guidestar.  Anyone can see the information for free at www.guidstar.org.  They just cannot republish it as I did.  I have taken the information off this blog, although as I said, anyone can see this information for free.***

Hi everyone.  I wrote this today and it is cross-listed at Replace the Lies with Truth and at my own blog site

I see on a couple of websites that Americans for Truth About Homosexuality is attacking a 16 year old for writing about the truth that sits behind the Americans for “Truth.” Well, I’ve just done a bit of background checking about this group and found out some interesting things.

I didn’t realize that the actual name for Americans for Truth is Americans for Truth about Homosexuality. I suppose that is what AFTAH stands for, but why don’t they put their full title in their website?  I think when this group is mentioned the full legal title should be used.

What also really made me angry is that when I looked this organization up in GuideStar (a source of information about non-profit organizations), their ‘National Taxonomy of Exempt Entities,’ code is R26–Lesbian/Gay Rights.  These NTEE codes are used to help people search for non-profit organizations.  And get this–this code of R26 is used for “Civil Rights, Advocacy for Specific Groups”! So Americans for Truth about Homosexuality is listed under civil rights groups for lesbians and gays! (more…)

The M.O. of Americans For “Truth”(AH?)

Punted| Category: Americans for "Truth", Fundies, Lies, Peter LaBarbera, Sonja Dalton | 0 Comments

LaBarbera-755198.gifAmericans For Truth (AH?) have a fairly prominent theme or modus operandi for how they get their “truth” out to readers.  It’s a fairly simple one.  “Don’t refute the message. Attack the messenger !

Instead of simply refuting the arguments against them, they attack the very people who express their point of view.  While holding the bible in their hands to boost the credibility of AFT, they use personal attacks to insult the sincerity of those making the opposing view points.

If one were to go to their page today or any day really but starting with the post at the bottom ”An Open Letter … ” dated January 5th, 2007 and work our way up to the top to “NEA’s Anti-Bullying Statement …” dated January 10th, one can see this trend of “blame the messenger” very clearly.  I’m going to analyze the stories on the page today and then let you, the reader follow along in the preceding days to see how they handle this.

The first post we’ll analyze is “An Open Letter to Peter LaBarbera.”  This was written by a person who comments on and reads Pams House Blend.  It was an open letter addressed to Peter LaBarbera in which he states as a gay man who has come to Christ he can’t understand why AFT instead of helping people come to Christ as is commanded in the Bible and helping those that are truly needy, they only pick on a small minority of the population and work as hard as is possible to condemn in every way possible. The Setup, and Rules of Play…

Punted| Category: Rules | 4 Comments

Welcome to Tiny Queer Footballs. The goal of this website is to be a collective effort by bloggers who identify as queer and want to help fight the lies, phobias, misinformation, and ignorance about the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, and intersexed community.

The name comes from a common meme in the blogosphere and among friends and the queer friendly that the members of the LGBT community is treated like political footballs. We’re footballs don’t want to be kicked around any more whether or not by the “Red Team such as Republicans, or “pro-family” “conservatives” and theological religious groups, nor do we want to be punted and played by those on the “Blue Team,” such as Democrats who don’t see us or our relationships as deserving the same recognition by the government as any heterosexual couple.

A little rundown on the rules of play: (more…)
