The Setup, and Rules of Play…

Welcome to Tiny Queer Footballs. The goal of this website is to be a collective effort by bloggers who identify as queer and want to help fight the lies, phobias, misinformation, and ignorance about the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, and intersexed community.

The name comes from a common meme in the blogosphere and among friends and the queer friendly that the members of the LGBT community is treated like political footballs. We’re footballs don’t want to be kicked around any more whether or not by the “Red Team such as Republicans, or “pro-family” “conservatives” and theological religious groups, nor do we want to be punted and played by those on the “Blue Team,” such as Democrats who don’t see us or our relationships as deserving the same recognition by the government as any heterosexual couple.

A little rundown on the rules of play:

Comments:
Anyone can post comments. Commenters can be anonymous. Be mindful that email addresses are required to comment but this information is not made public and you will receive no spam from this or any other website Flames and spammers will be deleted and banned permanently.

Trolls are welcome to comment but MUST actually take part in debate WITHOUT name calling, insults, or spreading rumors or lies. This actually goes for all commenters. Trolls know who they are. Drive by commenting will result in your comment being deleted by a referee (moderator).

If you cannot abide by these simple rules of play you will be benched (banned) for a temporary amount of time known only to the referees. A second time and you will be permanently benched.

Posting:
Individuals wishing to post original content to the blog must register with the site and send an email with a brief introduction of yourself, a link to your site if you have one and either a first post to go up on the site or another sample of your work. After a brief evaluation you will be given access to the site with “contributor” permissions. After all, this is a group effort and meant to be only from the football’s perspective. The over all theme of the site is football but you are more than welcome to write in your own style.

Content:
I am personally strongly against censorship but I ask anyone who comments and anyone who posts on here to refrain from using outright curse words. The political discourse in this country is at one of it’s lowest points and I personally would like this site to rise above that. You are welcome to be tongue-in-cheek, humorous, fun, or serious, but remember to ALWAYS USE CITATION and FACTS to support your position.

Bloggers with their own personal websites are welcome to cross-post as long as it is related to the website.

Topics allowed are any news or (mis)information that impacts us in the LGBT community, otherwise anything else is irrelevant. Subjects of interest are Gay Marriage, Civil Unions, “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” Adoption or other parenting rights, the supposed “Homosexual Agenda,” and out right lies and misinformation in the Main Stream Media or on the web stemming from the ignorant, bigoted, zealous, religious, or homophobic. Stories involving racism or discrimination within the gay community are also welcome as they show that we have our own internal battles to be fought as well.

Thanks and enjoy the site!
