Hey Josh,
Thanks for your comments. I knew about the problems with the source for Orama's comments. I gave a link to BoxTurtleBulletin. I was mistaken that it was a t.v. interview. It was an interview nevertheless. If it had appeared on t.v. it would have been easier to trace! As Jim Burroway has already said something about this and I'll just post his comments:

"The UPI retracted it, but not based on anything the reporter did. Bottom line, we only have Akinola’s spokesman’s word for it that the reporter apologized and that Bishop Orama denied making the statement. We haven’t heard from the reporter himself.

Given Popoola’s past distortions, I’m not willing to give much credence to his statements."

What's your source for saying Orama said these things on "Nigerian TV"?

I believe he did say these remarks, but the only record we have in the West comes from the government-owned News Agency of Nigeria, as quoted by UPI. Now the Nigerian Church is claiming Orama never said them and that the NAN "reporter" has promised a retraction (which hasn't been forthcoming).

It is very important to establish the provenance of these remarks. If Orama said them on TV, someone has videotape - which every Episcopalian and Anglican should see.
